The JET Engineering philosophy for development and certification is geared toward accumulating the maximum amount of data to allow for modifications and enhancements, which leads to the best possible product. These results are then verified and submitted for STC certification. The testing and certification process for the SuperQ MD80 was conducted at both Pacific Gas Turbine Center in San Diego, CA and at the Pratt & Whitney facility in East Hartford, CT, as well as with several hundred hours of in-flight testing. The result was a product that surpassed all expectations and received a letter of acceptance from Pratt & Whitney regarding STC No. ST01542LA.
Building on the experience gained from working with the Pratt & Whitney Engineering Staff in East Hartford on its previous STC program, JET Engineering developed the Advanced Jet Nozzle. The Advanced Jet Nozzle is comprised of the FAA approved JET Nozzle STC No. ST01943LA and the Turbine Exhaust Cone Mixer STC No. SE01944LA. The FAA approved Engine STC No. SE01944LA for the Pratt & Whitney JT8D-200 Series engines was issued January 17, 2007 for the Turbine Exhaust Cone Mixer. The FAA approved Stage 4 noise STC No. ST01943LA was also issued January 17, 2007 for the Advanced Jet Nozzle configuration.
